NB: The Red Corporation is the second of my quasi-fictional street photography series. It is another ‘figment series’. These are playful /nonsense narratives based around figments of my imagination. Hence everything written here is fictional. This entire body of work is a fabrication. I merely point my camera at real world places and streets moments that have absolutely nothing to do with the ‘real’ world of espionage, but by the very nature of their appearance/construct/ambiguity allow me to forge my own espionage fantasy. Uncannily as I take to the streets in this frame of mind, bizarrely my camera seems to tempt mysterious and obscure scenes out of the randomness of the city. All I have to do is walk and observe, and the world of John Le Carre appears all around me. I have to mention I am a photographer first and foremost. I take my photography very seriously. My writing less so. Writing for me is merely an exercise in learning. Learning to write, and been comfortable with the notion that for the most part my words are a distraction. Possibly by my writing incompetence I understand I could very well be taking something away from the power of the images. For now I place emphasis on the notion that the words are there merely to fill the page around the image. And for the more discerning photography collector, I place the photographs without words on my website at the link below.

The Red Corporation.

Part 1.

It was called Cadaver Point! On more than one occasion, a dismembered body had been found there. Bits scattered across the muddy allotment facing Kwun Tong Sai Wan.

Title: Cadaver Point ©Richard Mark Dobson

Those who inhabited the concrete drabness of nearby Yau Tong estate, had regularly seen the police arrive with torches to probe the derelict precinct. Patrol cars with iridescent blue lights pulsing into the yellow shadows. Constant yet intermittent flashes that illuminated hunched figures with harried faces that walked shoulder to shoulder across the mud, looking for body parts.

The question the press and investigators kept asking; who was responsible for these grisly murders? Forensics were unable to determine to whom the bits and pieces belonged. It was all a big mystery…..
