Feel the vibe…
This 2013 image above of the Dai Hoc Su Pham, Hue, Vietnam, could be the 50’s, 60’s 70’s. A sense of stillness prevails. It speaks of another time. A more analogue age, that of studying from books, writing letters, dial telephones, less traffic clogged streets. A slower pace of life. The jagged shadow tells us it’s high noon at the equator. Somewhere in the tropics. There’s nothing oblique about that zig-zag line. I graded out the image with soft muted colours reminiscent of the TIME LIFE magazine pages. I love nostalgia. It’s a kind of vibe. Inner vibrations, feelings, longing. Memories rekindled. My intention all along with this image was to create a timeless vibe. I hope you feel the vibe too.

I have created a new website. Elegant in it’s simplicity. It reflects my new direction. To cut the clutter. Focus on the craft of creating compelling work loaded with vibe. I’m calling myself a vibe artist and my mantra is; ‘the vibe is the narrative, the narrative is the vibe’.
Central to my methodology is to create images, both personal and commissioned work that is imbued with vibration, atmosphere, sensation, energy; VIBE. My inspiration comes from fiction, fact, existential philosophy, great cinema, great literature, great people, and ultimately great art. My work swings like a pendulum, thematically and stylistically, between darkness and despair, light and hope. Exploring opposites is far more interesting. Ultimately I want you to feel something, not just see something, I want you to feel the VIBE’!
